The First International Youth Forum in solidarity with Western Sahara in the Saharawi refugee camps

Auserd (Saharawi Republic), March  11 2020 (SPS) – The First International Youth Forum of Solidarity with Western Sahara, kicked off Wednesday, organized by the UJSARIO in the Saharawi refugee camps from the 11th to 13th March 2020, under the theme: “Sustainable future for Saharawi youth, the fair political resolution of the conflict, human rights, natural resources and the Wall of Shame in Western Sahara”, with the presence of delegates from numerous international youth organisations.
During the opening session, the delegates had the opportunity to listen to an official opening speech by the Saharawi President of the Republic and Secretary-General of the Frente POLSARIO, Mr. Brahim Ghali, followed by statements of various participating delegations, including the African Union, WFDY, IYUSI, International Peace Council, and various countries’ delegation, mainly Algeria, South Africa, Venezuela.
During the first day, the participants had the opportunity to attend specialised lectures presented by Senor Saharawi Experts tackling the political issue, human rights, the question of the natural resources, the military wall, youth and women participation to the resistance among other.
Today, the delegates will participate to a Tribute to 4 personalities of youth movements who were instrumental in the support of the Saharawi cause, before they gather anew in specialised workshops to exchange views on the various subjects mentioned above.
It is also expected that the delegates will visit the Moroccan military wall in Western Sahara to have an idea about the dangers that it represents for the environment and the people.
The Forum is also expected to come up with resolutions and letters that will be addressed to various international institutions to present the position of the international youth towards this last case of decolonisation
